About Traffic Wales

Traffic Wales is the Welsh Government's traffic information service which delivers accurate and timely information to the public via the web, information line, email and soon to be launched social media and smart phone application.

The services are delivered by Amey/URS Scott Wilson under the Welsh Transport Technology Consultancy (WTTC) contract as well as the Welsh Government's Trunk Road Agencies. All of whom are based within our Traffic Management Centres (Coryton, Cardiff on the M4 in South Wales and Conwy on the A55 in the North).

Traffic Wales is the public face and link to our Traffic Management Centre (TMC) operations which work to underpin the key responsibilities of the Welsh Government's transport responsibilities: Developing a world-class transport system to provide safe, affordable and sustainable transport for all.

The introduction of the Traffic Management Centres in recent years has made a significant impact to the efficiency and effectiveness of the management of the road network, and the provision of information to the travelling public. We are continually striving to improve the information provided, whether it be by simple methods such as information exchange agreements or investing in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).  Please continue to visit this site to keep abreast of the continually evolving ways we collect data or indeed translate this into meaningful, pertinent information.

The Traffic Management Centres in Cardiff and Conwy form the hub of Traffic Wales' communications and information dissemination network which enables the service to operate effectively around the clock, every day of the year.
