Changes to Traffic Wales Website Accounts

We have listened to our subscribers' feedback and have enhanced the types of travel alerts available through the new Traffic Wales website.  The improved service allows subscribers to stay informed of events, roadworks, incidents and their severity, to choose when they want to be alerted (select days of the week, start/end times, a start/end date or one-off day) and to name their journeys for quick future reference.

Unfortunately, due to the new alert format we are unable to transfer existing accounts across to the new website.  This means that if you subscribed to the Traffic Wales website before 24th November 2011 you will need to register on the new website and set up your journeys and text/email alerts from scratch. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience, but we hope you will see the benefits of the new more customisable alert service and will not find the setup process too lengthy.

Please note that any alerts you created before 24th November 2011 will continue to function until the end of January 2012, when we anticipate the old website will be taken offline.  We recommend that once you have set up your new account, you log in to the old website at http://old.traffic-wales.com/ (using your old username and password) and delete your account to avoid receiving duplicate information.

Creating alerts in the new Traffic Wales website

At www.traffic-wales.com, click "Sign up for e-mail and SMS alerts" (in the top left corner of the homepage) or go to "My Profile" on the top red menu bar.  Once your account is set up, create your journeys and add alerts by logging in and following these steps:

- Click "Add a Journey" to create a journey/route.

- Select a road and start/end junctions or, alternatively, draw your journey directly on the map:

1. Navigate the map to the start of the journey. For map navigation, use the navigation controls on the top left of the map.

2. Select the 'Draw your journey' option.

3. Left-click on the map at the beginning of the new journey.

4. To add intermediate points along the road, continue to left-click further down the journey.

5. To complete the journey, double-click on the journey destination.

6. To add further lines on the journey, repeat steps 3 to 5.

7. To remove all lines on the map, select 'Clear journey'.

8. Give your journey a name (e.g. "Home to Work") and select 'Save journey'.

You will be notified of all travel news within 500m of your line, so it does not need to be too accurately drawn.

- Once you have saved your journey, you will be directed to the Travel Alerts dashboard.

- Click 'Add an alert', pick your new saved journey from the list, and follow the steps in the wizard to select the combination of information you want to receive, and choose how and when you want to receive it.

Many thanks for your continued support.
